Zachary H. Champion, Esq., is the Managing Regional Attorney for REO/Retail Closings in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. He is also a licensed title insurance producer in Maryland. His practice is concentrated in the real estate and finance industries, including creditor’s rights, title insurance, title curative actions, short sales, leases, REO/Retail closings, commercial closings, real estate development, and general civil litigation. Zach also advises businesses on SBA loan programs and matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has conducted various speaking engagements in Maryland, including presentations on real estate, SBA loan programs, and best practice tips for real estate conveyances in divorces. Previously, he managed numerous foreclosures and bankruptcies within the firm as an associate attorney, including representing the federal government in foreclosures and bankruptcies under Section 502 of the Rural Housing Act. His prior practice experience in family law, personal injury, and Social Security disability uniquely position him to provide comprehensive analysis for real estate transactions, which often affect other areas of life. Zach has a reputation for creating dynamic solutions to complex problems through his relationship building skills, substantive expertise, and attention to detail.

About Zachary Champion

Prior to joining Stern & Eisenberg, Zach worked for another nationally recognized firm, where he managed a revolving caseload of approximately 600 active bankruptcies under Chapters 7 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.  In this capacity, he handled all bankruptcy-related matters, including defending secured creditors in adversarial proceedings.  In addition, he worked as an Attorney-Advisor for the federal government, where he advised judges on regulatory, evidentiary, and policy matters, and drafted opinions for adjudication under Title II and Title XVI of the Social Security Act.  He has represented clients in personal injury cases,  divorces, interstate custody disputes, custody modifications, and adoptions.  When practicing in Alabama, he was a certified Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for two years.  Zach graduated from The University of Alabama and The University of Alabama School of Law, respectively.  In law school, he was an editor on the Journal of Legal Profession, which is a grade-on journal for the top 25% of first-year students. He also participated in the Civil Law Clinic, worked part-time for a local firm, and clerked for a Presiding Circuit Court Judge and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
